Expert Tips On How To Change A Diaper For Parents

Having babies at home is extreme fun... changing their diapers isn't! Ask me, a father of a one-year old toddler, who is with the baby a significant amount of time each day when his mother goes out to work. Anyway, we all perfect our own methods how to change a diaper when the time comes, and nobody actually learns it by rote. But then there are some ways to simplify the messy process. I have perfected my own little method too, and would be happy to share it with you. (This article is mostly targeted at the poor fathers who find they have to change their babies' dappies and for the mothers who are just learning the craft!)

Diaper Changing Step # 1 - Develop your sixth sense for understanding baby poo.
Babies will not just get up and move to the bathroom by themselves; they will just lie pretty wherever you have kept them and will do their business. Some babies will cry and bawl when the messy stuff happens, but there are many babies who will get used to all the mess and won't make a whimper. So, you will need to understand when the dappy needs changing. Smell is your best help here, but even if you see your baby squirming uneasily, you can get the hint. Do not keep your baby too long in the mess; that could cause rashes and infections.

Diaper Changing Step # 2 - Take the little one to the changing table.
If you have invested in a changing table for changing the dappies, then take your baby there, or else put him or her on a surface that you wouldn't mind cleaning later on. Keep the baby with its belly up on the surface. Changing tables have straps with which you can secure your baby comfortably on the surface. But even when the baby is secured, do not leave it alone.

Diaper Changing Step # 3 - Change the soiled diaper.
Removing a soiled diaper is an art in itself, because you have to make all effort that the mess remains inside the dappy. This is the way I do it. First, remove the adhesive tabs on the diaper. Then open the sides of the diaper and lay them flat on the surface. Slowly slide the front portion of the dappy (the part that covers your baby's privates) downwards and take it all the way to the back. You will have to lift the baby's bottom by holding his or her ankles. Using the clean portion of the dappy, wipe the bottom of your baby as you are sliding the dappy downwards. (Expert papa tip - Never wipe from the back to front, as it can cause infection. Always move front to back.) When done, the dappy should be neatly folded with the mess inside it. Stick the adhesive tabs in the same place again. Keep the dirty dappy out of reach of the baby, and dispose of it as soon as the baby is changed.

Diaper Changing Step # 4 - Clean the baby.
You can clean the baby either with water or with wipes. If you are using water, you can soak a baby washcloth in water and pat it on the baby's bottom. You can even use moist cotton balls for the purpose. Just make sure you wash the baby's bottom properly, and again do not wash from back to front. In girls, you will need to clean their privates too, because the mess might have reached there too. Dispose all the washing and cleaning material with the dirty dappy. This is a good time to use the anti-rash creams the baby's doctor might have prescribed.

Diaper Changing Step # 5 - Putting on the new dappy.
Lift the baby's bottom by the ankles and slide the opened new diaper underneath. Keeping it in place, lower the baby's legs. Then pull the front of the diaper up to the abdomen. (Another expert papa tip - Keep the front level of the diaper below the baby's navel. Some babies do not like the touch of the dappy on the navel and could become restless.) Then fold the sides of the diaper and secure them with the adhesive tabs in the right place on the front band of the dappy. The diaper changing is done, but you might have to adjust the posterior part of the diaper by pulling it upwards, or there could be leaks the next time the baby gets down to its messy chores.

Well, that's done - you have successfully learned how to change a diaper for your baby, changed it too and made it all cutie-pie once again for the visitors to see. But be ready again in a couple of hours. Babies keep their bowels extremely busy!

Process Of Preparing Homemade Baby Food For Your Little One

Every new parent wants to make sure their baby is getting the very best nutrition from the food they feed their baby; a good healthy diet right from the start is very essential for proper physical and mental growth. In this article, we'll explore the nutritional needs of infants, tell you what foods they should and shouldn't eat and guide you through the process of preparing homemade baby food for your little one.

Before you start buying baby food
Pediatricians will suggest when and at what time is best to begin feeding your baby real food and it’s important to adhere to those suggestions.  However, what you feed your baby is in your hands.  It is convenient and easy to buy the jars of baby food, already to warm up and feed your child, but some parents think the preservatives in pre-made baby food might not be as valuable, nutritionally, as homemade baby food.

Do the research
Before you start buying all the things you need to make your own baby food, do some extensive researches on the topic to find out the nutritional value of each type of food you wish to feed your child.  It’s recommended that you understand the recommended daily allowances your baby needs at the age he or she is.  You don’t want to give your baby a balanced diet that is both healthy and tasty to him or her.  You should also speak with your pediatrician; they will have the information you need as to what your baby needs as he or she grows older.  Nutritional needs change as your baby gains weight and gets older so it’s important to know where these stages are in your child’s life.Congratulations! Your baby is ready to start eating solid foods. Now what?

First of all, keep in mind that we're talking about minute amounts of food. Beginning at four to six months of age, most infants get introduced to solid food with a spoonful or two of iron-fortified rice cereal mixed with breast milk or water. This slow, gentle approach doesn't affect your child's established feeding routine much at all in the beginning. In a few weeks, after your baby learns to swallow and begins to express interest in foods, you'll gradually add a few ounces of pureed vegetables, fruits and meats to his or her diet.

You could buy jars of baby food off the grocery store shelf to meet this need. But making homemade baby food is almost as easy as boiling water. With just a little effort, you can make fresh food for your baby alongside meals you prepare for the rest of your family. Among other benefits, making baby food yourself saves money, ensures freshness and allows you to control the ingredients. You'll also be able to alter the texture of food as your growing child gains eating experience, learns to chew and grows teeth.

1. Try to serve some meals at room temperature. Serving meals at room temperature will allow your baby to become accustomed to food that is not hot, and save you the worry of a meal being rejected because it is not heated.

 2. Carry ripe bananas with you: Probably the easiest source of baby food that you could get your hands on, you will just need a ripe banana, a clean container and a fork. Mash up the fruit, and you have fresh and instant baby food ready!

 3. For people who are adventurous enough to go camping with your baby, take along a mini-cooler packed full of the frozen food cubes you will need. As the cubes are already frozen, they should be able to withstand a journey of 6 hours with minimal thawing. You can also take your cubes to a hotel as many hotels provide mini-refrigerators. The food cubes should keep for approximately 5 days if stored in a refrigerator.

 4. Cereals will also travel well and you may either take ground grains and cook as needed or take cereal that has been frozen, and prepare as usual.

 5. In case you are carrying food, be sure to purchase fruits that are "almost" ripe, to avoid spoilage during the trip.

 6. Vegetables travel well and if you prepare them during your stay, peel and dice them before leaving your home. Store them in an airtight freezer bag and if possible, fill the bag with some water to help maintain freshness.

Many people still use vasoline petroleum jelly for a variety of baby care needs. Honestly, we do not kill. Your baby's skin is still under development. You can find many more natural products to gentle baby care.

If you are a new parent and have never held a baby before they are soft. Support your baby from top to bottom. Your baby's neck muscles are not strong enough to withstand the weight of his own head, but it does not drop his head. You can apply for health care of people in hospital the coach so you are not removing the baby around the feet or arms by default.

The first baby care tip that every mother will need to follow is learning about how to bathe their babies. Normally, you will be advised that your baby only needs to be bathed twice or even thrice in a week, or whenever he or she becomes dirty enough to warrant giving them a bath. Other than that, there is also a need to give the baby sponge baths following a change of diapers and also after the baby has eaten a meal.

The second important baby care tip that you will need to follow has to do with how the baby should be cared for when he or she is being given a bath. It is absolutely not advisable to leave the baby on his or her own for even a single second while he is in the bathroom. Mothers and parents and baby caregivers must always be within arms length of the baby while he is in the bath.

A third baby care tip that you will have to follow is learning how to prevent your baby from suffering from diaper rash and from suffering from skin irritation. The simplest solution in this regard is to ensure that you change the baby's diapers either prior to or after feeding him and also soon after he has relieved him. There is nothing quite as bad as letting a baby sit in dirty diapers because that is a sure way of causing him to suffer from skin irritation.

The fourth baby care tip that mothers and parents need to learn about is learning to buy diapers for the babies. It is recommended that the diapers should fit him or her without being too tight or too loose. Too tightly fitting diapers are sure to cause irritation to the skin, especially near the thighs and also around the stomach.

Besides following these and other baby care tips, as a mother and parent you also need to do your best to bond well with your newborn baby. There are also many other useful baby care tips worth learning about, and if you are interested in knowing how to address different aspects of proper baby care, you must then make it a point to read books and magazines as well as go online and search for more information in this regard.
